Waitsfield
Government
Like other municipalities
in Vermont, the Town of Waitsfield is a "creature of the State,"
which means it can only do things allowed by the legislature through
state law. Generally, the Town, through its Selectboard,
has the authority and responsiblity to build and maintain highways
and bridges, tax property, control animals, license junkyards, provide
for solid waste disposal, keep land and vital records, and regulate
some health and sanitation areas.
