Following are the minutes of the Annual Meeting for the Waitsfield Town School District of March 3, 2009 pursuant 1 V.S.A. § 312(b)(1). Peter Joslin called the Annual Meeting to order at 1:04 p.m. State Representative Adam Greshin updated voters on current legislative issues. ARTICLE I: To election a moderator for the ensuing year. Peter Joslin was elected by unanimous voice vote. Missy Siner Shea introduced fellow members of the Board. ARTICLE II: To hear and act upon reports of the Town School District. Missy Siner Shea and Richard Schattman presented a slide show highlighting where tax dollars are spent and student performance. ARTICLE III: To set salaries, if any, that shall be paid to
the officers of the district. Salaries were set as follows
by unanimous voice vote as follows: $300 per School Director,
for reimbursement, and $1,200 to the School Treasurer. ARTICLE V: To have presented by the Board of School Directors the proposed budget for the ensuing year in the amount of $2,163,294 and to appropriate that sum which the District deems necessary for the fiscal year beginning July 1, 2009 and ending June 30, 2010. Following the defeat of a motion to amend Article V by $33,220 for a budget of $2,130,074, Article V for a budget of $2,163,294 was approved by a majority voice vote. There was no ARTICLE VI. ARTICLE VII: To transact any other business that may legally come before the meeting. Missy Siner Shea recognized Troy Kingsbury for his service and contributions on the Board. She also recognized Richard Schattman who is retiring at the end of the school year in 2009.
