Description

This is a road that extends Long Road (TH 20) to connect it with Palmer Hill Road (TH 28). A record exists for the road being laid out in 1807 (See CCGIS record 17). The road is shown on Town maps up until 1858 (Walling Atlas) though there is no discontinuance record for this road. The road is still observable today with half of the road extending from Long Road (TH 20) as a private road used by local residences and the other half a trail. The part not developed as a private road clearly shows the signs of an old right of way with a fairly clearly defined path flanked on both sides by stone walls. According to Town historian Richard Bisbee, it was along this road that the town’s first phone lines were laid.
