    Below is a work-in-progress timeline of siginficant events related to the municipal water and wastewater projects Waitsfield has been working on for many years.  This is not a comprehensive summary and there are many key documents and events not yet listed.  


    1987
    February - Planning study for water and sewer facilities.


    1989

    February - Mad River Valley Regional Sewerage Study.


    1994

    Selectboard Annual Report for 1994

    2000

    May - Wastewater Facilities Plan 30% Draft.

    August - Munn Site: Proposed Wastewater Disposal Area Hydrogeologic Investigation, by Pioneer Environmental.

    November 7 - Special Town Meeting to vote by Australian ballot on the following item:
      ARTICLE 1. Shall the Town of Waitsfield issue bonds or notes in an amount not to exceed $126,000, to be repaid over a period not to exceed six (6) years, for the purpose of purchasing the so-called "Munn site," being a parcel of 12.2 +/- acres located at the intersection of Vermont Route 100 adn Kingsbury Road, from Sugarbush Land Holdings, Inc., for the purposes of possible gravel extraction, recreation, wastewater disposal and/or scenic protection?
    December 20 - Munn Site purchased by the Town for $126,000.

    2002

    July - Proposed Wastewater Site Hydrgeologic Investigation, by Pioneer Environmental, Inc.

    August - First of two test wells drilled on the Smith property on Bridge Street in Waitsfield Village.  Drilling 700 feet at Site F1 yielded only 35 gallons per minute (gpm).

    September - Wastewater Facilities Plan - 60% draft, by Phelps Engineering, Inc.

    October - WSTF Waitsfield Income Survey.


    2003

    July 8 - Status Report to Planning Commission from Town Administrator. (2 pgs, 15 KB )

    July - Archaelogical Phase I Site Identification Survey and Phase II Evaluation of Wastewater Collection.

    October - Test Well on LeClair Site (18 gpm).


    2004

    March 2 - Voters authorized establishment of TIF District Reserve Fund.

    June 30 - Town Administrator William Bryant became Town Administrator in Bristol after 17 years of service in Waitsfield.

    August 1 - Valerie Capels became new Town Administrator.

    September - Reed Road Water Supply Well Completed (186 gpm).

    November 13 - Town hired Michael Cunningham as new Municipal Project Manager.

    November 11 - Bond vote recount. Recount results: YES - 595 (50.42%), NO - 558 (47.29%), BLANK - 24 (2.03%), SPOILED - 3 (0.25%). TOTAL VOTERS: 1,180.
